The Cottingley Fairies appear in a series of five photographs taken by Elsie Wright and Frances Griffiths, two young cousins who lived in Cottingley, near Bradford in England. . The pictures came to the attention of writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who used them to illustrate an article on fairies. Conan Doyle, as a spiritualist, was enthusiastic about the photographs, and interpreted them as clear and visible evidence of psychic phenomena. Public reaction was mixed; some accepted the images as genuine, but others believed they had been faked.. In the early 1980s Elsie and Frances admitted that the photographs were faked using cardboard cutouts of fairies copied from a popular children’s book of the time, but Frances continued to claim that the fifth and final photograph was genuine.

I danced from the age of three. I was always in amateur dramatics and I did a lot of public speaking. So when I told my family I was going to be an actress…well it was like when your camp best friend tells you he’s gay and you’re trying really hard to look surprised. Even so, it was one of the worst years of my life. I was an Usher at ‘The Lion King’. I was an office temp – the epitome of spiritual bankruptcy – and even a cocktail waitress…sorry, a mixologist. I can still free-pour a double vodka.”

// I had a sudden need for Mama Toph and this is what happened.
Headcanon: Toph and Lin enjoyed listening to radio series, and would stay up late listening. At times they even fell asleep on the couch midway through an episode, Toph being tired from work and Lin still too young to stay up all night.

Oh dang I drew a Gamora warm-up instead of going to the gym this morning
Robert and I saw Guardians of the Galaxy last night! It was really rad, but man I wish they hadn’t made Gamora into the damsel in distress… :(
